I have a clear intention always to nourish my body with vital, delicious, healing food. What happens though when life gets busy, time gets away from us and we need food NOW ? These delicious and nutritional little balls are the answer to that question.
I have been making these medicine balls for years now. When we had our organic cafe these little babies flew out the door. It was many peoples nutritional saviour (these and the turmeric shots and green juices – that’s another post)
They are so nutritionally dense that you feel so filled up just eating one. Full of anti inflammatory goodness, protein, good fats, omegas and so much more, these medicine balls support your body in so many ways. They truly are “food as medicine”.
So think about making these power packed nutritional treats as part of your weekly prep. Make a double batch and keep half in the fridge and half in the freezer.
A pot of your favourite tea and one of these delicious medicine balls will soon become one of your most treasured daily rituals.
TURMERIC MEDICINE BALLS
- 1 cup Hemp seeds
- 1 cup Chia seeds
- 2 cups Shredded coconut
- 1 cup Almond butter Use nut butter of choice
- 2 tspns Vanilla powder
- 6 Medjool dates pitted
- 6 tablespoons Melted coconut oil
- 2 tablespoons Turmeric powder
- 4 tspns Ginger powder
- 1 tspn Black pepper
1 cup of desiccated coconut and 2 teaspoons of powdered turmeric mixed together and put to one side to roll balls in to coat. (add more turmeric if you want a darker yellow)
Place all 10 ingredients into a food processor and blitz until mixed.
Place the mixture in the fridge for 10 - 15 minutes to set a little
Roll mixture into balls (whatever size you like)
Roll balls in coconut & turmeric mixture
Keep in fridge and enjoy
